About Us

Our Story

Our desire is that no one should have to travel far to find support when faced with a difficult pregnancy choice or after having had a termination.

Here at The Well Pregnancy Choices Centre, we will give you a safe space and time to share your story. We will support you in an unbiased, non-directive, compassionate way as you explore the options available to you if you are facing a difficult pregnancy choice. We can also support you through our post-termination programme if you are having difficulties following a termination.

The Well Pregnancy Choices Centre is a registered charity and has a board of trustees.

Our Ethos

We seek to empower individuals to work through their situation, by providing them with emotional and practical support and information. Our service is unbiased and non-judgemental, and we aim to build confidence and self esteem.

Respect for the client is central to our values and we take our lead from the client in terms of the issues they want to explore. If this includes spiritual issues, we aim to support the client to explore what is important to them.

Our ethos is informed by our Christian foundation, but we respect the rights of our clients to hold beliefs and values of all faiths and none. Our services are non-directive and open to all. We believe this approach reflects our values as we seek to express our Christian faith by serving others in this way. We train all our volunteers to work in a way that is sensitive and appropriate to the client's culture and beliefs, and our service has been proved valuable to people from various faiths and cultures.

Research shows a woman (and her partner) are best able to cope with an unintended pregnancy decision when it is made free from pressure or fear, knowing they have made a truly informed choice, even if it is difficult at the time. At The Well Pregnancy Choices Centre, we are able to provide the time, space and care that is needed for people facing a Pregnancy Choice. We meet with clients face-to-face, or arrange telephone or video consultations, and discuss all their options. Clients are given the space and support to make an informed decision without fear, pressure or judgement.

All our services are free and confidential* and are open to women, men and couples.

Volunteers at The Well have completed the PCN Level 3 accredited Pregnancy Choices Course (or have equivalent experience) and in-house Pregnancy Choice Support training.

Volunteers are further trained in our specific post-termination support course ‘The Bowl’ and all receive regular, ongoing, supervision and training.

*All our support is confidential; therefore it will not be shared with anyone outside of the organisation (unless in the rare case you disclose something that indicates you or someone else is at risk of harm. We may then have to inform someone, but you will be kept fully aware of any actions we take, unless there is a risk to ourselves, or someone else, in doing so.)
